ICAR-CIARI organizes awareness on Aquatic Animal Disease Surveillance

Port Blair, July 29: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute organized an awareness programme on “National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD)” on 21st July, 2023 at Namunaghar village of South Andaman. 

In his address, Mr. Y. Venkateshwar, Pradhan, Namunaghar Panchayat appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CIARI to conduct such a programme benefitting the farmers of Namunaghar Panchayat. A total of 28 farmers attended the awareness programme and participated in the interactive sessions covering the aspects on fish disease diagnosis and reporting system, disease management in aquatic animals and better management practices in aquaculture. During the programme, the queries raised by the farmers were also addressed by the scientific team. The programme was conducted and coordinated by Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Head (Act), Division of Fisheries Science, Dr. R. Kiruba Sankar, Senior Scientist, Dr. K. Saravanan, Scientist, Dr. J. Praveenraj, Scientist and Dr. D. Karunakaran, Scientist under the overall guidance of Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
