Port Blair, Aug 21: Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Secretary, RD/Panchayat, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, accompanied by Mr. Ankit Yadav, IAS, ADM (SA), Mr.DilkushMeena, IAS, SDM (SA) and Mr.RadheyShyamMeena, DANICS, Director (RD/Panchayat) visited Sippighat Vegetable market on 20th August 2022 and discussions were made to take over the same from the Directorate of Agriculture by the Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs.
Later the team visited the site to initiate the work under Amrit Sarovar namely “Construction of Pond in the land of Mrs. Zulaika Bibi at ward No. 06 Mithakhari, under MGNREGA” with an estimated amount of ₹2,12,405.00 with the generation of 667 man-days, around 40 to 45 households will be employed under the said work.
The team also visited the site to initiate the work under Amrit Sarovar namely “Construction of MI Pond in the land of Mr. Ganga Sagar Mishra at Ward No. 02 Dundus Point under MGNREGA with an estimated amount of ₹1,35,940.00 with the generation of 418 man-days, around 30 to 35 households shall be employed under the said work. The above works shall augment the water storage capacity of the small and marginal farmers, which can also be used for multiple activities such as duckry, fishy culture and irrigation purposes.
During the occasion, the Secretary (RD) held discussions with Mr. Anand Amrit Raj, Pradhan Tushnabad, Mr. Mohammed Safique, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Mithakhari, Mr. Y. Venkateshwar, Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Namunaghar and ZillaParishad members. He also interacted with the MGNREGA beneficiaries and advised them to work regularly and get the benefits to improve their livelihood
As part of the interaction, the Secretary (RD) urged all PRI members to mobilize the local populace for getting them vaccinated with the booster/precautionary dose of the COVID vaccine.
