Port Blair, Oct 30: Badminton Association of A&N Islands organised a badminton team championship at Mayabunder on 28th and 29th October. Altogether 08 teams participated in the tournament. Players were selected through auction. Mayabunder Super Kings defeated Mayabunder Fighters in the finals. Shri. Ankit Yadav was the Chief Guest of the inauguration who was also a participant player in the tournament. Considering the convenience of the teams, the finals were played around midnight as players from Rangat and Diglipur had also participated. The venue was crowded with spectators even at 1.00 am during the prize distribution. Having great enthusiasm for the game, Shri. Ankit Yadav, IAS Deputy Commissioner and Shri. Ashish John, Assistant Commissioner gave away the prizes through the middle of the night. Under the circumstances and enthusiasm of the the DC, AC and SP, badminton shall gain more popularity among the youth in the North and Middle Andaman.
