NSUI President demands releasing Pending Stipends to the Hostellers of JNRM

Port Blair, Sep 15: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, President Mr. Rangalal Halder along with the National Students Union of India, State President Mr. M.A Sajid, City Congress President, Mr. Mohd. Zubair and District Congress Committee, Secretary Mr. Abdul Shabir on 8th September 2022 visited JNRM Boys Hostel and interacted with the inmates on various issues being faced by them, especially regarding the non-payment of the monthly stipend over the past many years.

            Later, Mr. Sajid made a representation to the Principal, JNRM,highlighting that over 1500 JNRM students are yet to receive the stipendfrom the College authorities and mentioned that, most of them are hailingfrom inter-islands and belonging to families of poor financial backgrounds.

            “Hosteliers of JNRM used to get a total stipend of Rs. 1500 monthly to support their educational and other necessary requirements. But the college management has failed to disburse the stipends of Hostellers for the past many years”, said Mr. Sajid.

            Earlier on 13th September 2022 the Principal, JNRM replied to the letter of Mr. M.A.Sajid by stating “the delays in releasing the stipend are due to incorrect/inactive bank account numbers submitted by a few students. Now based on the correct account numbers received from the rest students, the details have been posted in the PFMS portal and a letter in this regard has already been issued to POA is completed, the pending stipend will be released to the students soon”

            Mr. Sajid thanked the Principal JNRM for the quick action and he also thanked the President of ANTCC Mr. Rangalal Halder and other office bearers for their support.
