Empowering Communities: 37th Awareness cum Fitness Programme   (Hasgulla Club) for Health and Drug-Free Living

Port Blair, Feb 22: Directorate of Social Welfare remains dedicated to promoting a healthy and drug-free society through its innovative initiative, the Awareness cum Fitness Programme, commonly referred to as the Hasgulla Club, as part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign).

37th Awareness Cum Fitness Program conducted with enthusiasm at Joggers Park on April 21st 2024, from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM, extending a warm invitation to locals for an invigorating morning routine. Guided by Miss Gayatri, Yoga Instructor of Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) in South Andaman.

Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), also highlighted the importance of the fitness program and emphasized the need for a healthy and active lifestyle. He shared valuable information about the benefits of regular exercise and the positive impact it can have on one’s overall happiness additionally; He also explained the significance of laughter therapy and its positive effects on mental health.

Dr. M.K Mahato, Doctor of IRCA, South Andaman, highlighted the crucial role of yoga and meditation in combating substance abuse, advocating for holistic approaches to community health. He also stressed the availability of the 112 Helpline number (24*7) for counseling individuals struggling with drug addiction, along with providing guidance on how to overcome addiction and reclaim one’s life.

The Directorate of Social Welfare extends an open invitation to all interested individuals to join the transformative “Hasgulla Club” program. This initiative provides a unique opportunity to participate in fitness and awareness activities, contributing to a healthier and drug-free lifestyle.
