Port Blair, Mar 28: The child helpline under the Directorate of Social Welfare hosted an enlightening awareness program focused on the functioning of WCD Control Room and child helpline (1098),VIP Road. This awareness program inaugurated by Beena Das, Helpline Administrator (CHL).She discussed about functions of WCD control room and CHL-1098 and call operators child helpline P. Lily, G.Mani Kumari, Lalita Kujur, Anandini Beek demonstrate children the WCD Control Room and CHL-1098 how 24×7, 365 days is always by their side to help them.
Darusalam Yatheem Khana, Pranab Kanya Sangh, Seva Niketan, Calvery Children’s Home and Love Children Home participated in this awareness program.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director of Social Welfare, emphasized the significance of such programs in enhancing awareness among children. He also said that every child receives timely and adequate assistance and that society as a hole is vigilant and responsive to the needs of its youngest members. The child helpline 1098 is a step towards creating a safer environment for every child and he believes that empowered and educated community members are fundamental in bringing about this change.
