Observance of World Aids Day 2022

Port Blair, Nov 29: World AIDS Day is observed on December 1 every year. It is a day of solidarity for peoplearound the world who are affected by HIV. 

‘Equalize’, is the theme to observe World AIDS Day 2022. “To keep everyone safe, to protect everyone’s health, we need to Equalize.” This World AIDS Day, UNAIDS is urging each of us to address the inequalities which are holding back progress in ending AIDS. The “Equalize” slogan is a call to action 

To observe this day various activities are conducted throughout the Islands ensuring the participation of every section of the society. 

Rally of school and college students is on 1st December 2022 (Thursday) at 7.30 AM from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium. More than 500 students are expected to participate. 

Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, has given his kind consent to be the Chief Guest to flag off the rally at 07:30 AM from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium. Other dignitaries and officials from Health and various departments will also grace the occasion. 

Route of the rally: The rally will start from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium to Clock Tower, Model School, Bengali club, Co-operative Bank to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium, PBMC. 

At Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium, students will be given refreshments;will have folk performance with a messageon HIV &AIDS by Balakrishna Nritya Academy and Dance Nritya Academy followed by prize distribution of various competitions. 

Prize distribution function: Mr. Nikhil Kumar, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health) has given his kind consent to be the Chief Guest and Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary (Health) will be the Guest of Honourfor the prize distribution function..
