Port Blair, Sep 01: The Department of Agriculture will celebrate World Coconut Day on 02nd September 2022 at Community Hall, Ograbraj, Mithakhari Gram Panchayat in association with Rural Development Department, Industries Department, NABARD, Hand in Hand India, NGO and support from Pradhan, Mithakhari Gram Panchayat, and Coconut entrepreneurs. Mr. G. Sudhakar, IAS, Secretary (Agri), A&N Administration will be the chief guest on the occasion.
As part of the celebration various events like the Coconut Recipe competition, Rangoli competition and display of coconut products for Exhibition-cum-Sale will be organized by the Department of Agriculture to encourage entrepreneurship among local youths. Farmers, SHGs, coconut entrepreneurs, Coconut based Industries shall take part in the programme by displaying and selling their coconut-based products.
A variety of coconut-based dishes and coconut handicrafts will available for sale. It is appealed to all the general public, Farmers, SHGs, and Coconut entrepreneurs to actively participate in the celebration, taste the variety of coconut dishes, procure value-added coconut products and make it a grand success.
The participants will have to reach the venue before 8.30 am and complete their display and rangoli making latest by 10 am.
