Port Blair, Dec 05: Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman along with Mr. S. Boominathan, Up- Adhyaksh, ZPSA met the Union Minister of State for Home affairs, Mr. Nityanand Rai in his chamber at New Delhi today on 5th Dec. 2023 and submitted a memorandum of issues concerning development of A & N Islands with special reference to the PRIs. The main issues that have been submitted before the Minister includes problem in getting MSP by Copra Producers, re-opening of Stone Quarries, Devolution of fund, function and functionaries to the three tiers of PRIs, Extension of time line for completion of SPMRM Projects, release of CRF fund for maintenance of rural roads in both the districts, increase in quantum of allocation under Rural Road and maintenance sector and re- allocation for fund under Water sector for maintenance of assets, constitution of a Committee of MHA to visit the islands to study the working of the PRIs etc.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the issues presented before him and assured to look into the same for an early solution.
