Member of Parliament demands to conduct fresh BPL survey  in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Port Blair, Dec 12: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to conduct a fresh BPL survey  in Andaman and Nicobar Islands so that the maximum number of deserving people can get benefits of various schemes made for BPL people by the Government.

The Member of Parliament informed the Lt. Governor that no fresh BPL Survey has been carried out in Andaman and Nicobar Islands for a long time because of which many deserving and genuine beneficiaries are at total loss.

He pointed out that for getting subsidized ration and also for getting Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Card, BPL cards are still required and hence many beneficiaries are unable to take advantage of schemes of the Government of India.

The Member of Parliament mentioned that in far flung Islands there are thousands of people who are facing extreme financial hardship and if a proper re-survey is carried out then many of these Islanders will be able to get a BPL card and subsequently they will be able to get benefits under schemes of the Government of India.
