Member of Parliament requests for early Assessment of Billiground Bazaar Fire Incident and release of early compensation to victims

Port Blair, Apr 30: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to assess the losses incurred in Billiground Bazaar Fire Incident by the public and release early compensation.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that a massive Fire broke out at Billiground at around 1:50 AM, engulfing 14 shops constructed primarily of wood.

He added that the extent of damage to the properties in this fire incident is substantial. Livelihood of many shop owners and traders were directly and indirectly connected to these shops and godowns.

Therefore, he requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to conduct a thorough assessment of the losses incurred by the affected shop owners and traders and issue necessary compensation as early as possible.  “Timely financial aid will help them recover and rebuild their livelihoods,” he added.
