39th Awareness cum Fitness Programme (Hasgulla Club) at Jogger’s Park for Health and Drug-Free Living

Port Blair, May 02: Directorate of Social Welfare remains dedicated to promoting a healthy and drug-free society through its innovative initiative, the Awareness cum Fitness Programme, commonly referred to as the Hasgulla Club, as part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign).

39th Awareness Cum Fitness Program conducted with enthusiasm at Joggers Park on April 28st 2024 (Sunday), from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM, extending a warm invitation to locals for an invigorating morning routine. Guided by Miss Gayatri, Yoga Instructor of Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) in South Andaman.

Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), also highlighted the importance of the fitness program and emphasized the need for a healthy and active lifestyle. He also emphasized the transformative power of exercise and meditation helps guide individuals away from drugs while promoting physical and mental well-being.

Dr. M.K Mahato, Doctor (IRCA), South Andaman, highlighted the beneficial benefits of yoga and meditation in combating drug addiction. He stressed the availability of the 112 Helpline number (24*7) for counseling individuals struggling with drug addiction, providing guidance on overcoming addiction and reclaiming one’s life.

The Directorate of Social Welfare extends an open invitation to all interested individuals to join the transformative “Hasgulla Club” program. This initiative provides a unique opportunity to participate in fitness and awareness activities, contributing to a healthier and drug-free lifestyle.
