Legal Awareness Camp Organizes by District Legal Services Authority, A&N Islands, at Government Senior Secondary School,  Telugu Medium, Haddo

Port Blair, Sep 03: A Legal Awareness Camp was organized today by the District Legal Services Authority, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, at Government Senior Secondary School, Telugu Medium, Haddo. The camp was aimed to educate and raise awareness about Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Child Trafficking among adolescent students of the school.

   The Legal Awareness Camp witnessed the active participation of esteemed guests and speakers, including Mr. Anupam Mukherjee, Ld. District & Sessions Judge ­cum­ Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bhawani Shankar Sharma, Ld. Additional District Sessions Judge, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mrs. Krishnakoli Mukherjee, Ld. Judicial Magistrate First Class 1st   Court, Port Blair, Miss. A. S. Zinu, Ld. Public Prosecutor (POCSO) and Miss Tasneem Abid, Ld. Public Prosecutor (POCSO). 

     Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, Deputy Education Officer, South Andaman, Education Department and the Principal, G.S.S.S Telugu Medium, Haddo were also present during the camp. 

   The program commenced with a welcome address by the Ld. District & Sessions Judge, A&N   Islands, followed by an informative session conducted by the dignitaries. Each speaker elaborated on critical aspects of Child Trafficking and the POCSO Act, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the rights and well being of children. Their insights, legal expertise, and practical knowledge were invaluable in educating the participants. The speakers urged the young participants to be vigilant and proactive in preventing child trafficking and addressing issues related to child abuse.

     The programme concluded with an interactive session, where students actively asked questions from the speakers and cleared their doubts.
