Heavy Crackdownon Bootlegging by Nicobar District Police

Port Blair, Sep 20: In a major crackdown against bootlegging activities and the menace of illicit liquor, on 20/09/22 a team of PS Nancowrie comprising SI Sunil Yadav (IRBn), HCs Malati Devi & N. Mahesh (IRBn), PCs R.K. Halder, Arun Xaxa, Mamata Paul, Sita Devi, Reba Mazumdar, Anthony, Cts (IRBn) Ranjit Bachar, Madan Kerkatta, Mohd Sharif. K. Srinivas Rao, P. Giri Babu and HG(V) Polinus under the supervision of SI Mohan Rao, SHO PS Nancowrie launched an exhaustive combing and search operation in the jungles of ChotaEnaka, Nancowrie. The said operation was carried out in the wee hours of Tuesday. In this operation, Police trekked deep inside the forest and recovered around 1400 liters of fermented wash.

            The raiding team further detected 4 cases of violation of excise regulations and arrested bootleggers on the seizure of around 50 liters of illicit liquor from their possession from ChotaEnaka village of Kamorta. In addition to strict enforcement, a mass public awareness campaign has also been launched to spread awareness about the ill-effects of alcohol and drug abuse among youths and the general public. Nicobar Police is committed to taking stern action against bootleggers, illicit liquor, drug peddlers, and other illegal activities.
