Port Blair, July 07: As a part of zero tolerance towards encroachment the District Administration of South Andaman carried out eviction drives against encroachments committed over Government land in South Andaman District in Ramnagar village, Shaheed Dweep under Port BlairTehsil and restored an area of 7000 sqmtrs of Government land has been restored to its original status.
During the eviction drive encroachment in the shape of Coconut, arecanut, Banana and Papaya plantation and fencing over land bearing Sy.No. 336/1 and road over Sy. No. 340 was removed by clearing an area of 7000 sqmtrs of Govt. land. Some of the encroachers had grabbed areas marked with fencing and had plantations in the encroachment. All such fencing and plantations were removed and land restored to government khaata.
Further an eviction was carried out at South Point village under Port Blair Tehsil wherein an area of 50 sq.mtrs over Sy. No.2484, recorded as road/path was restored to its original state.
