Dept. of RD/Panchayat calls for active participation by rural populace in the “HAR GHAR TIRANGA” movement

Port Blair, Jul 24: The Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi has given a clarion call to strengthen the ‘HarGharTiranga’ Movement as the nation is marking AzadiKaAmritMahotsav this year. He has urged people to hoist the Tricolor or display it in their homes between 13th and 15th August 2022. The aim of the “HarGharTiranga” Campaign is not only to inspire people but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building. The idea behind this initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of citizens and promote awareness about our National Flag.

            The Department of RD/Panchayat has been designated as the Nodal Department for the successful implementation of the ‘HarGharTiranga’ programme in the rural areas of the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. In this connection, all the Gram Panchayats have been entrusted with the responsibility for stocking, distribution/sale of flags (Tiranga) through Panchayat Office, Post Offices, CSCs, Patwarkhana, Anganwadi’s, etc. as well as to encourage rural households to hoist National Flag at their respective premises/home.

            To invoke the feeling of patriotism and deepen the peoples’ connection with the National Flag and also create awareness about the ‘HarGharTiranga’ campaign, the officials of the Department of Rural Development visited the Gram Panchayat, Tushnabad. The Director (RD/Panchayat) along with the Gram Pradhan Tushnabad, briefed the general public about the programme and urged them to actively participate by hoisting the flag at their residences. Later the Director (RD/Panchayat) and the Pradhan distributed flags to the MGNREGA workers and the residents of the Gram Panchayat. The Sale Point for the ‘HarGharTiranga’ Campaign made at the Gram Panchayat Building was also inspected and directions were issued for smooth distribution of National Flags amongst villagers.

            The National Flags are being collected and stocked at the Directorate of RD/ Panchayat, which after proper packaging, are being sent across the Islands for further distribution and sale to the residents of Gram Panchayats and Tribal areas. The distribution points have also been identified and set up in the Gram Panchayats for distributing the National Flag to the Villagers.

            For smooth conduct of the Campaign in rural areas, the concerned Block Development Officers and Panchayat Secretaries have been directed to strictly adhere to the direction for distribution of the National Flag to the villagers.

            The Secretary (RD/Panchayat), Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS has urged and requested all the Gram Panchayats to encourage/ motivate the general public to the procurement of flags from the SHGs of Islands for hoisting at their respective houses and to make the movement a grand success in the rural areas of this UT.
