Lt. Governor felicitates the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team led by Gp. Capt. G.S Dhillon

Port Blair, Jan 30: Impressive performances by bands of Navy, A&N Police, Colorful cultural programme, illumination of ships and spectacular fire power display formed part of the Beating Retreat ceremony that marked the grand finale of the Republic Day celebration-2023 at the historic Netaji Stadium here this evening. Lt Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) was the chief guest. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, DGP, Mr. Neeraj Thakur, IPS, Senior Officers from Defense& Civil Administration and a good number of the general public witnessed the performance. The Lt. Governor also felicitated the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team led by Gp. Capt. G.S Dhillon by presenting memento for their outstanding air display. Gp. Capt. G.S Dhillon also presented a memento to the Lt. Governor.

      The ceremony set out with the bands of, Navy and A & N Police including women Police Pipe Band, marching in unison, playing popular marching tunes, followed by performing of various marching movements, to form beautiful formations. This was followed by the lowering of the National Flag.

A combined colorful and mesmerizing cultural programme was presented by school students of GSSS Model, Bhatubasti & Nirmala on patriotic themes and drew loud applause from the audience present in the Stadium.

     As part of the Beating Retreat, Naval ships at the anchorage fired very pistols and the fireworks illuminated the sky in front of the Stadium. This was followed by illumination of ships anchored between Marina Complex and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep. The Beating Retreat ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
