UTCPCR member visits Bethany Children’s Home and Child Care Institutions for Girls on Independence Day

Port Blair, Aug 21: UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights (UTCPCR) is a statutory body functioning in the islands to look into matters related to safeguarding child rights, safety, security and well-being of children and proper implementation of laws related to children specially POCSO Act (2012), JJ Act 2015, and Right to Education Act 2009.

            On the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of Independence Day, a member of the commission Mrs. Neeta Agrawal visited Bethany Children’s Home and Balika Niketan (Child Care Institutions for Girls) on 15th August to share the joy and to enquire about their well-being with the inmates.

            A friendly discussion to make children aware of Child Rightsand their protection with special reference to girl child and the role ofUTCPCR in this regard was also held in which the inmates participatedenthusiastically and shared their views and experiences. Sweets weredistributed, questions answered and the matters needing intervention andattention in the best interest of the inmates was noted.
