Port Blair, Feb 21: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A & N Administration in coordination with District Administration, South Andaman, A&N Police, A&N Police Fire Services, Directorate of Health Services and NDRF has organized a Table-Top-Exercise in the Sea Shell Resort, Marine Hill, Port Blair on 21.02.2023 for the conduct of Mock Drill on Fire Incident scheduled on 22.02.2023 to test the Standard Operating Procedure and response system of the above said Resort.
At the outset, Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Disaster Management), A&N Administration welcomed all the stakeholders and resort personnel and explained about the importance of conducting of Mock Drills in resorts & hotels and emphasized on the importance of awareness, preparedness and mitigation efforts with regard to Disaster Management. The Director (DM) and other Assistant Directors of Disaster Management had clearly briefed the scenario of the proposed Mock Drill. The roles & responsibilities of each individual/ group of the said Resort Management and supporting role of other stakeholders i.e. A & N Police, A & N Fire Services, Health, Electricity and District Administration, South Andaman had been clearly defined to manage emergency situations during incidents/crises. They had also highlighted the advantages of having the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of Resorts and Hotels for Disaster Management.
The Director (DM), Asst. Directors and other Stakeholders were also took the stock of preparedness for smooth conduct of the said Mock Drill on 22.02.2023 and they explained the vital role to play by the Resort Management and stakeholders of Administration and other agencies at the time of any disaster. After a detailed deliberation, Mock Exercise Scenarios have been finalized for the conduct of Mock Exercise. At the end, the Management of the Resort has been urged to inform surrounding hotels/resorts to witness the Mock Drill and learn to prepare themselves to tackle any unforeseen situation.
