Road Safety Awareness Programme at PS Aberdeen Conference Hall by A&N Traffic Police

Port Blair, Dec 18: In order to spread Road Safety awareness among the commercial vehicle owners & drivers, a road safety awareness programme was conducted on 17.12.2022 at PS Aberdeen Conference Hall by A&N Traffic Police. The DSP (Traffic), Police Personnel and about 100 drivers & members of Bus/Truck/Van/Auto Union have participated in this programme. While addressing the participants, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jain, IPS (Inspector General of Police, L&O) especially expressed serious concern over the rising cases of fatal accidents and Drunken Driving in the city and emphasized the ill effects of Drunken Driving and its financial and psychological effects on the entire family in the event of a major accident and has appealed to obey traffic rules. Importance of various road safety measures such as wearing helmets, fastening seat belts, avoiding Over speeding, avoiding using mobile phone while driving/riding the vehicles, avoiding careless overtaking, giving way to emergency vehicles etc were also emphasized. Grievances of participants were also put forth before Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jain, IPS (Inspector General of Police, L&O) and assurance for redressal of grievances was also given.

Mr. Ajay Kr. Rai, DANIPS (Dy. Superintendent of Police Traffic) also highlighted the importance of road safety and educated the participants about the ill effects & aftermath of road accidents.

Later, a Free Eye test was conducted for all the participants by the medical team headed by Dr. Priyanka Sankaran (SR) of GB Pant Hospital at PS Aberdeen.

    Further, they were encouraged to report traffic violations by sending clear photograph/short videos of violation containing clear registration no. of vehicle with date, time and place of offense on the official Whatsapp No. 9531892228 or share through the twitter handle @ANTrafficPolice or on the 24×7 Traffic Control Room Number 03192-243812 for prompt action against the violators.
