Port Blair, May 08: The “Ograbraj Champions League (OCL) Season 1” cricket tournament, organized by Emerging Boyz, concluded here on Sunday night at Muslim Basti Play Ground, Tushnabad. The match started with the singing of National Anthem by all present.
The final match was played between Team Eisaba and Team Nahi Sakega with full zeal and enthusiasm in which Team Eisaba emerged victorious after a thrilling encounter. The winner and runner-up team were awarded with trophies and mementos. Prizes were also given to other categories like man of the match, best bowler, best commentator etc.
The closing ceremony was graced by Director of TSG Foundation Mr. TSG Bhasker as the Chief Guest, Pradhan Mithakhari Panchayat Mr. Mohd. Shafique as Guest of Honor along with Chairman Adivasi Congress Mr. Sebastian Tirkey and Programme Coordinator TSG Foundation Mr. Ameer Bux as Special Invitees. Many other prominent members of the society including PRI’s attended the event.
The main motive of the cricket tournament was to encourage the youths to take up sports as a career and also to keep themselves away from drugs.
While addressing the players Mr. Bhasker praised both teams for making it to the finals and emphasized the relevance of such activities for psychological well-being and cultivating team spirit. He also congratulated the organizers for successfully organizing the tournament Mr. Bhasker mentioned that sports are the best means to eradicate social evils by positively channelising the energy of youth.
Giving his remarks, Mr. Shafique applauded the efforts of players and appreciated their sportsmanship spirit. He emphasized that in sports, there are no losers as one gains experience out of each defeat and tries to improve upon and correct his mistakes.
