Port Blair, Aug 18: The North & Middle Andaman District Police commenced a monumental event—the “SMARAN YATRA” under the banner of “MERI MAATI MERA DESH.” This remarkable rally serves as a poignant tribute to the courageous Veer Shaheed Jawans of India and a solemn occasion to extend heartfelt condolences to the martyrs of the Andaman and Nicobar Police.
The Smaran Yatra embarks on an extraordinary journey from 09th to 30th August, 2023 that spans across geographical landscapes and cultural communities, touching the hearts of thousands as it traverses significant locations such as Kadamtala, Rangat, Billiground, Mayabunder, Kishori Nagar, and Diglipur. More than a mere rally, the Smaran Yatra is a pilgrimage of honour, remembrance, and inspiration that unites diverse sections of society under the common banner of gratitude and respect.
This monumental event anchored by a series of impactful and meaningful activities, each designed to commemorate and uplift:
Honoring the brave soldiers and Police martyrs, the historic Smaran Yatra bus arrives in Diglipur showcasing their sacrifice. PS Diglipur, led by SDPO Diglipur welcomed the Smaran Yatra bus and a program to felicitate and show gratitude towards families of martyrs and ex-servicemen. The event was kicked off with a ceremonial lightening “Dweep Prajawalan” by the chief guest Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP(D) N&MA.
As a commitment to community welfare drives the Smaran Yatra to host enlightening sessions on critical subjects, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Cyber Crime, and Drug Abuse. These sessions empower individuals with knowledge, enabling them to safeguard themselves and contribute to a safer, more vigilant society.
Creativity by school students served as a powerful medium to convey messages that resonate deeply with the masses. The yatra featured captivating nukkad natak (street plays) and other cultural expressions, harnessing the transformative power of art to entertain, enlighten, and raise awareness about pressing societal issues.
The Smaran Yatra casted a spotlight on the often untold stories of valor and selflessness exhibited by the valiant members of the Andaman and Nicobar Police. These dedicated men have risen beyond the call of duty, demonstrating unwavering commitment to maintaining law, order, and security. Through immersive displays, personal narratives, and evocative visuals, honor these unsung heroes who exemplify the spirit of service.
In an age where freedom can be taken for granted, the Smaran Yatra seeks to awaken a profound appreciation for the essence of Aazadi (Independence) among the youth. Through interactive sessions, thought-provoking discussions, and engaging activities, aim to ignite the flames of patriotism, inspiring the younger generation to uphold and cherish the hard-fought liberties that define the nation.
In the spirit of reverence and unity, everyone present there collectively embraced the legacy of the martyrs and took PANCH PRANPLEDGE in leadership of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP(D) N&MA to carry their valor and sacrifices forward, lighting the path of righteousness for generations to come.
In the end, the program concluded with a few words of wisdom by Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA. “We on behalf of Andaman & Nicobar Police cordially invite members from every corner of our diverse community to unite and actively participate in this profound tribute to our national heroes. Together, we shall march forward, not just in commemoration but in a fervent commitment to upholding the ideals of sacrifice, honor, and unity. By forging an unbreakable bond between our dedicated police force and the communities, we aspire to create an environment of harmony, security, and mutual respect”.
