NCC Cadets bidadieu to Col A Vivekananda, Commanding Officer 1(AN) Indep Inf Coy NCC

Port Blair, Sep 01: NCC cadets, Associate NCC Officers, Care Takers, Permanent Instructors and Unit staff of both Army and Navy NCC Units of A&N Islands bid adieu to Colonel A Vivekananda, Commanding Officer No.1 (AN) Indep Inf Coy NCC as he handed over command to Lt. Col Pankaj Modgil on his superannuation from Indian Army on completion of 27 years of Commissioned Service.

During his illustrious career spread over 03 decades, he has held various staff and operational appointments which include Officer Commanding Workshop at Kirkee, Officer Commanding Medium Repairs of Tanks, Senior Instructor at 1 EME Centre and Commanding Officer of 28 Karnataka NCC amongst many others.

          During his tenure at Andaman, both NCC Units conducted several social services and community development activities, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. He conducted regular visits to schools and colleges and interacted with cadets, Principals and staff to gain insight regarding improvisation of training requirements catering to these islands.

          He mentored and motivated the cadets to actively participate in Social Services and Community development activities. During the farewell event, he checked the turnout and drills of the cadet’s guard. NCC Cadets of both units had unique opportunities to witness and participate in the Ceremonial Pulling Out of their Commanding Officer.
