Municipal Council Organizes Walkathon with a Motto of Spreading Awareness for Water Conservation

Port Blair, Apr 12: Port Blair Municipal Council organized a walkathon with a motto of spreading awareness to save water and judicious use of drinking water. The walkathon was all about creating awareness for water conservation. The walkathon started on 08.04.2023 6.30 AM from Indira Bhawan, Mohanpura and passed through the city viz Lord Ganesh Temple, Clock Tower, Model School, Bengali Club, and Light House Junction. The rally culminated at Indira Bhawan. Mrs. S. Selvi, Chairperson, Mrs. Smitha. R, IAS, Secretary, Mr. Ashish Joon, Joint Secretary, Mr. Dharmendra Narayan, Sr. Vice chairperson, Councilors and Officials of the Council took part in the walkathon. More than 700 walkers participated in the walkathon and Council intends to take more such events in the future to raise awareness among the citizens about the need to conserve water.

                      Due to poor monsoon and excessive heat, there is acute shortage of water availability. The civic body has been requesting all the residents to conserve water and ensure judicious of it. Several banners, posters have been displayed throughout the PBMC area to gather support from residents in the move to conserve water. Help of Audio and Print Media is being taken at the optimum level.
