Member of Parliament Requests Lt. Governor to Conduct Events like Flea Market, Beach Festival, Music Festival ctc for the Islanders on a Regular Basis

Port Blair, Jan 22: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to conduct events like flea market, beach festival, music festival etc for the Islanders on a regular basis since there is no other mode of entertainment for the Islanders

During a recent meeting the Member of Parliament informed the Lt. Governor that in the recent past Andaman and Nicobar Administration used to conduct regular events like flea market, beach festival, music festival etc for the entertainment of Islanders, which was hugely popular among local youths, Islanders and tourists.

He added that these festivals were not only a source of entertainment for Islanders but were also a source of income for the Islanders. Such events brought a good amount of money into the local economy and many people had a good source of income. To some extent it will also promote tourism.

He pointed out that very recently this has been observed that the frequency of such events has been reduced and hence he requested the Lt. Governor to direct the concerned departments to conduct such events on a regular basis throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the upliftment of the local community.
