Port Blair, July 21: On receiving information that availability of Mortuary Van is a major issue in Diglipur region, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has recommended ‘An Mortuary Van for the Panchayat SamitiDiglipur’ from MPLADS fund for the Diglipur region.
The Mortuary Van will be provided to Panchayat SamitiDiglipur at the cost of Rs. 15 Lakhs.
Once inducted, the Mortuary Van will not only help the general public during last rites of their loved one at Diglipur region but also the Mortuary Van can be pressed into use to transport dead-bodies from Port Blair to Diglipur.
Presently people of Middle and North Andaman are facing huge difficulties in transporting dead-bodies from Port Blair to Middle and North Andaman because of the high rate of private Mortuary Vans of Port Blair.
