Port Blair, Sept 26: A meeting of Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) was held at the conference hall of PBMC headquarters under the Chairpersonship of Mrs. KavithaUdhaya Kumar, Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council/BMC.
At the outset the member Secretary BMC Mr. BhanuPratapYadav, Retd. DFO, welcomedthe Chairperson &all the participants / special invitees and gave a brief of the activities of BMC and preparation of People’s Bio diversity Register (PBR). The Committee members & special Invitees in the BMC committee from concerneddepartment discussed various issue particularly the issues regarding updating of People’s Bio Diversity Register (PBR) and identification of new plants /herbs to be added in the PBR.
The committee furtherdeliberatedon identification of new wetlands / naturally vegetated land for better conservation and protection of existingendemic flora and fauna.
Identification of eco-friendly tourism spots within the jurisdictionof Municipal Limits was also brought to the notice of Chairperson.The meeting was concluded with the vote of thanks by the chair.
