Port Blair, Sep 04: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency participated in the 30th Southern Zonal Council meeting on 03rd September 2022, chaired by Mr. Amit Shah, Union Home and Cooperation Minister and hosted by Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala at Thiruvananthapuram to promote fisheries and other marine products recommended.
Institution of Co-operative mechanism with coastal States to utilize the untapped potential in a mutually beneficial arrangement including direct exports from Port Blair to South East Asia since MPEDA and EIA have directly been setup. Also, to ensure greater availability of land both for Agriculture and developmental infra projects, recommended compensatory Afforestation by Andaman and Nicobar Administration in member States and Southern Zonal Council.
