Port Blair, Dec 06: ICAR- KVK, N&M Andaman (CIARI) organized an awareness programme on “World Soil Day 2022” at Government Secondary School, Govindpur. The theme of world soil day 2022 “Soil: Where food begins” aims to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being by addressing the growing challenges in soil management, increasing soil awareness and encouraging students to improve soil health. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjay Biswas, Head, Govt. Secondary School, Govindpur in presence of School teachers, in his inaugural speech Mr. Sanjay Biswas, expressed the need of soil conservation measures for enhancing crop productivity in this region. Er. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agril. Engineering) briefed about the World soil day and its theme and urged the students to adopt scientific methods of soil conservation methods for better crop productivity on a sustainable basis.
A total of 53 students and four teaching staff participated in the world soil day programme. The world soil day programme was organized by Er. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agril. Engg.), ICAR-KVK, Nimbudera under the supervision & guidance of Dr. Ramakrishna, Pr. Scientist & Head and Dr. E. B. Chakurkar, Director, CIARI, Port Blair.
