Port Blair, Feb 10: Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Disaster Management), A&N Administration has reviewed the fire safety and disaster preparedness measures of Hotels and Restaurants of Port Blair in a meeting held on 10.02.2023 in his chamber with the President and other members of Hotelier Association of Port Blair and officers of A&N Police, A&N Police Fire Services and Health Department. While taking the stock of preparedness and safety measures, the Director (DM) has urged the Hotelier Association of Port Blair to make all necessary fire safety measures, prepare Standard Operating Procedures, evacuation routes with proper signage and provide disaster management trainings to the personnel of Hotels and Restaurants to manage any emergency situation and crisis by the Hotels and Restaurants of A&N Islands itself.
The Directorate of Disaster Management in coordination with NDRF, Fire Services and Health Department to impart disaster management and fire safety training to all staff of Hotels and Restaurants in Port Blair and surrounding areas. Further, the trained Swasthyadoots will also be imparted disaster management trainings in Hotels and Restaurants under the jurisdiction of each Primary Health Centers/Urban Health Centers/Community Health Centers and District Hospital even in low lying areas in Port Blair wherein Search and rescue techniques, safe evacuation, first aid and fire safety measures will be covered.
