Port Blair, Sept 30: Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair observed Hindi Pakhwada from 14th September to 28th September, 2022. It began with a brief inaugural function on 14th September by lighting the lamp in the Seminar Gallery by the Principal, staff and trainees. On this occasion, the Principal in his inaugural address emphasized the significance of the official language Hindi and its acceptance by the Indian Constitution as an official language of India written in Devanagri script. He also mentioned the role of KahnaiyalalManiklal Munshi and Aiyangaar while accepting Hindi by the Indian Constitution as an official language. He stressed the use of Hindi in all official correspondence and requested the Hindi Department to conduct more programmes to promote the use of Hindi and declared various competitions during the pakhwada.

On this occasion, Dr. R.K. Tiwari, Associate Professor & Nodal Officer (Hindi), TGCE, stated that while Hindi is being used widely as mother tongue, official language, national language, contact language, and public language etc., it still faces challenges as an official language and we need to awaken our willpower to remove these challenges. He also presented some books in Hindi and photographs of some litterateurs to the Principal, TGCE for the use of the college library. Several competitions like essay writing, self-composed poem, quiz, debate, self-composed comedy poem, news reading, etc., were held during the pakhwada. The winners were declared during the concluding function held on 28/09/2022
