On the joyous occasion of Lohri, Makar Sankranti and Pongal, I convey my greetings and best wishes to all respected Islanders and wish them prosperity, good health and happiness.
The festivals associated with the harvest season, and celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm all across the Islands and other parts of the country, symbolize our unity in diversity.
Agriculture and farming are closely linked to our ethos, culture and lifestyle. These festivals celebrate this intrinsic link which is necessary for us to maintain even as we move ahead in the modern era.
May the festivals be the beginning of further growth and progress and inspire us to work for the overall development of our Islands and mark the commencement of an era of abundance prosperity and new
opportunities.
