Doordarshan Kendra celebrates Hindi Diwas

Port Blair, Sep 15: The inaugural function of Hindi Diwas was held on 14th September 2022 at Doordarshan Kendra, Port Blair. Mrs. A.Chitra, Director (E) and Head of Office presided over the function in the presence of Mrs. Meena Prakash, Head of Programme and Mr. S. Sivabalan, Drawing and Disbursing Officer and all staff members.

            Speaking on the occasion the Director emphasized the need to simplify the usage of Hindi as an Official Language to overcome the impediments in cent percent usage of Hindi in these Islands which comes under the ‘A’ region. She also highlighted the role of Hindi Poets and freedom fighters who adopted Hindi as a link language to strengthen the freedom movement. She termed Hindi as vox- populi and a real link language of these Islands. Later, an Appeal sent by Mr. Mayank Kumar Agrawal, C.E.O Prasar Bharati-cum- Director General, Doordarshan, New Delhi was read out by Mrs. A.Chitra, Head of Office.

            Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Meena Prakash, Head of Programme highlighted the role of Doordarshan in propagating Hindi amongst the masses. She called upon all the staff to do their entire work in the official language Hindi and to come forward to take part in each competition enthusiastically.

            In his speech, Mr. S.Sivabalan, Drawing and Disbursing Officer stated that the usage of Hindi should not be restricted to a day, week or fortnight rather it should be continued for the whole year. He also highlighted various incentive schemes and cash rewards for the progressive usage of Hindi.

            Earlier, Mr. Deepak Chandra Tewari, Hindi Officer welcomed the Officers and Staff members and gave details of the competitions to be held during the fortnight. Speaking on the occasion Hindi Officer highlighted the Constitutional provisions regarding the Official Language Act, Official Language Rules and ensuring strict compliance of various sections of O.L Act 1963 (as amended in 1967) in the Kendra.
