Port Blair, Sep 19: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman along with Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman, Tehsildar, Port Blair, Revenue field functionaries, Ward Councillors and villagers conducted an inspection of Japan Road area, Dairy Farm under Port Blair Tehsil on 19th September 2022 to ascertain the possibilities of providing approach path connecting Ram Sita Mandir and Japan Road.
The entire stretch of the present katcha path was inspected by the team of officials and directions were given to Tehsildar, Port Blair to submit a field report and a proposal map with atleast 3 (Three) wheeler accessibility, so that the villagers can bring household goods, cooking cylinders and articles to their doorsteps which otherwise is being brought to the houses through walking long distances.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman also visited the area near All India Radio where a landslide had occurred due to inclement weather and houses are in a dangerous position. The Tehsildar, Port Blair has been directed to ascertain whether the land is free from encumbrances so that suitable compensation can be proposed under the Disaster Management norms.
