Civic Chief and other PBMC officials participate in SwacchSagarAbhiyan

Port Blair, Aug 21: As part of the Government of India’s initiative of “AzadiKaAmritMahotsav” and “SwacchSagarAbhiyan”, the Indian Coast Guard in association with Port Blair Municipal Council conducted a Coastal Cleanup Drive on 20th August 2022 at Marina Park and the adjoining beaches.

            Mrs. U.Kavitha, Chairperson, PBMC; Mr. Azizur Rahman, Sr. Vice Chairperson, PBMC and councillors of various wards namely Mrs. S.Selvi, Mr. C. Karunanidhi and Former Chairpersons namely Mr. N.K.Udhaya Kumar and Mr. K.Ganeshan were present during the event. A 16-member team of defense personnel headed by Commandant Mr. Amit Chauhan actively participated in the drive and Indian Coast Guard Ship DurgabaiDeshmukh was also involved in during the cleanliness drive. Students and staffs of GSSS Haddo were present during the drive.

            The drive was conducted in synergy with the involvement of different organizations. A total of 24 gash bag waste were collected and dumped collectively. Social distancing and COVID protocols were strictly followed during the event. A team of Sanitary staff of PBMC headed by Mr. Sudeep Singh, Sanitary Inspector Ward No-5 actively participated in the entire cleanup drive.
