Port Blair, Dec 13: International Volunteer Day and Week is celebrated from 05 December to 11 December. The occasion is celebrated to promote the spirit of volunteering among people worldwide, encourage voluntary efforts and recognize volunteer contributions to the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) at the local level. This year’s theme is “Solidarity through Volunteering”. To mark the week, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair has organized a blood donation camp in Maharashtra Mandal on 13th December 2022. On this occasion, 40 youth participated and after examining, 25 of them were donated blood. The programme is organized in association with Maharashtra Mandal and A & N Blood Donor Association.
Mr. Aziz Ur Rahman, SR Vice Chairman, PBMC was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He also made the youth aware of the benefits of blood donation and highlighted the power of our collective humanity to bring about positive change through voluntarism. He inaugurated the blood donation camp by donating his blood first. Dr. CH Hemanta Rao, Founder and Director Sarva Bhasha, Mr.Gorakh Nath Patil, President, Maharashtra Mandal, Mr. Ajay Seth GTT, SSS Campbell Bay also present as guest and made the youth aware about the activities and role of volunteers.
On the occasion, Mr. Ramesh Bhadhe, AGM, BSNL, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, President, A&N Blood Both Association, Mr. Pradeep Kumar divisional Engineer, BSNL Mr. G. Ravi, ALLU Arjun Army Andaman (NGO) Mr. SambhuMurthi Andaman Handicapping Hands, (NGO) Dr. Sunita Patil, Maharashtra Mandal, Mr. Rohit Kumar, News AapTak, Mr. Mustafa, Social Worker, Mrs. Sangeeta Jadav, Social Worker and Dr. Sunita Patil, President, Pradyut Youth Club, Panighat were also present and graced the program.
Earlier, Mr. Gopal Chandra Biswas Nehru Yuva Kendra Port Blair welcomed the Chief Guest and Other Guests and He has also made the youth aware of the purpose of the program to participate in voluntary activities such as blood donation, organ donation, tree plantation, cleanliness campaign etc. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
