Awareness campaign on “Sparsh Leprosy”

Diglipur, Feb 27: An awareness campaign on “Sparsh Leprosy” was conducted by the CHC, Diglipur today.

As part of the program, a gathering was in front of the CHC, building in which Mr. Arbinda Biswas, Health Educator (In-Charge) delivered the welcome speech. After the welcome speech, Dr. Sidda Raju, CMO, Diglipur In-Charge elaborated on Leprosy and its symptoms, treatment and social stigma. He further said that leprosy is a curable disease and people shouldn’t get feared and if anyone is afflicted with it should come and consult the doctors for its treatment. People shouldn’t shy away from the disease, rather they should report and get its treatment, the CMO emphasized.

Mr. Dipankar Mistry, Pramukh, Diglipur who was the Chief Guest on the occasion said that this type of campaign will undeniably create a mass awareness among people about leprosy and its curement. He further said the Modi govt. has taken many initiatives in this regard so as to eradicate leprosy.

After this program, a rally was taken out by the school students who shouted slogans on leprosy. The rally started from the CHC, Diglipur and touched all the vantage points in the Diglipur Bazaar area and concluded at the CHC. The rally was flagged off by the Chief Guest.

There were about 80 participants in the rally including students, ASHA workers, teachers, ANMs & other health staffs, CHC officials said.
