Port Blair, Feb 23: The advance training for starting 10 Classical Silai Schools in South Andaman organized by Unnati with the support of Usha International Ltd., inaugurated by Mrs. Pramila Kumari, Adhyaksha Zilla Parishad concluded on 13-02-2023 at Wimberlygunj. On this occasion Mr. A. Ummer Zilla Parishad Member was Chief Guest and Mr. Venkat Ram Babu Pradhan Wimberlygunj and Miss Vijayta Samiti Member were Guest of Honor. Mr. A. Ummer Zilla Parishad Member said that Unnati is playing a prominent role in capacity building and skill up-gradation particularly in Food Processing and Tailoring, Fashion Designing and Sewing Machine Repairing. He also mentioned quality training being impacted by women groups. Mr. Venkat Ram Babu Pradhan Wimberlygunj also appreciated the initiative of Unnati for empowerment of women. He mentioned that for empowerment of women and the Self Help Group Federation, Wimberlygunj Panchayat involving Zilla Parishad Member and Samiti Member would organize an awareness camp for the benefits of women in which he requested President Unnati to participate for the enlightenment of women. Miss Vijayta Samiti Member in her speech mentioned that the Self Help Groups are confined with very limited economic activities and need to be expended as is doing mainland Self Help Groups with proper after-support by all concerned.
Mr. C. Mohammed President, Unnati appreciated the initiative and efforts taken by Silai School teacher trainees for upgrading their skill. He also advised all Silai School teachers to start the center from 01-03-23 in their respective villages, for transportation of sewing machines given to them by Unnati they were paid Rs. 2000. He also mentioned there is urgent need for implementation of Convergence Projects Of PRI-SHG, PRI-CBO Projects of Govt. of India to strengthen the poor to reach their entitlement and to work in tandem to reinforce each other’s works. The points raised in the interaction session would be taken up by Unnati with the Administration separately.
The trainees were distributed 10 new Sewing Machines, a Handbook on stitching, and Signboard for Silai School display and certificates by S/s A. Ummer Zilla Parishad Member, Venkat Ram Babu Pradhan Wimberlygunj and Miss Vijayta Samiti Member.
