A & N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association & Rotary Club of Port Blair Conducts Free Cataract Surgery for Patients of Remote Urmilapur Village

Port Blair, Dec 22: Rotary Club of Port Blair conducted free Eye camp and Dental camp at remote Urmilapur village in Middle Andaman in coordination with A & N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association, around 6 cataract surgery cases were identified during screening, three patients were interested to go for surgery, after preliminary investigation two cataract cases, surgery was done on 20 th November by Dr Seema Das, MBBS, BNB, MRCS(Glasgow, UK) Consultant Ophthalmologist of Eyecon clinic, Garacharma. The same day the bandage was removed and the vision restored, the patient said “she is seeing her husband’s face after so many years” as she was totally blind due to cataract. One patient underwent phaco with foldable IOL and the other patient underwent SICS with rigid IOL. Another patient underwent cataract surgery on 21 st December by Dr Rohindra Lal, MD(AIIMS) Ophthalmologist of Rohin’s Eye Hospital, Delanipur.
