Port Blair, Aug 17: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute celebrated 76th Independence Day, on 15th August 2022 at Garacharma Campus in presence of around 350 members of Institute staff and family members. The 76th Independence Day celebrations started with the hoisting of the National Flag by Dr.Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
The director delivered the Independence Day address and highlighted the contributions made by the ICAR-CIARI. During this period Institute Commercialized (4 technology) like Dweephangreens, dweep micro, Dweep carp grower feed, dweeptickure and filled Patent on an extraction process for dual extraction of seaweed liquid fertilizer (SWLF) and calcium alginate from brown seaweed (Sargassumwightii).
He also emphasized Research and academic linkages developed between different universities and new initiatives developed such as Dweep sale point, Augmentation of Water Resources at Garacharma Farm and Revival of Minicoy research activities. He expressed Institute published 36 research papers on NAAS rated more than 6.
He further urged the scientists to work hard towards the best outcome and betterment of the farmer’s community. The programme was concluded by a mass tree plantation drive in which 75 saplings were planted on the Garacharma campus to mark the celebration of the 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Regional Station, Minicoy of ICAR-CIARI Port Blair also celebrated 76th Independence Day. The National Flag was hoisted in the campus by the Scientist in-charge of ICAR-CIARI, Regional Station, Minicoy on 15th August 2022.
Besides, the Har Gar Thiranga campaign of Govt. of India under AzadiKaAmritMahotsav was also celebrated from 09th August 2022 to 17/08/2022 at ICAR-CIARI, RS Minicoy wherein, the National Flag was hoisted at the office and staff quarters. A Mega Rally-Walk with the National Flag was conducted along with Minicoy Administration on 12th August 2022. Welcomed Honorable Advisor, Lakshadweep Administration, on 14th August 2022 and participated in Tribal Day celebration 2022.
