Hindi Diwas and Hindi Fortnight celebrations by BSI

Port Blair, Sep 14: Hindi Day was observed on 14th September 2022 and inaugurated the Hindi Fortnight celebrations in the Botanical Survey of India, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre to mark the adoption of the Hindi language as an official language of India.

            This was to bring unity among the diversified languages of our country. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Officer-In-charge, ZSI along with, the Regional Head and Joint Director, Dr. Lal Ji Singh by the lightening of Lamp.

            Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of using Hindi works in the office as well as in day-to-day life and brief about the Official Language Act which was promulgated implementation on 14th September 1949 for the adoption of Hindi language as an official language and also on Regulation 1963 Article 3(3). Dr. C. Sivaperuman, while addressing the gathering elaborated on the role of Hindi in day-to-day office work. Scientists/Officers and staff of BSI actively participated in the programme.

            Dr. Chandan Singh Purohit, Scientist C, delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was moderated by Shri Prakash Horo, Junior Translation Office.
